Homecoming 2014 & Return to the Ridings 2014 Join Forces
Scotland will welcome the world in the Year of Homecoming 2014- providing a year-long programme of events alongside the Ryder Cup and Commonwealth Games. The Year of Homecoming Scotland will run from 31 December 2013 to 31 December 2014 throughout the length and breadth of the country and visitors from around the world are invited to join in a celebration of the nation’s food and drink, active pursuits, cultural heritage, nature and ancestral heritage. The Scottish Borders are looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe to come, stay and enjoy the wealth of experiences the region has to offer.
The Ridings are steeped in history and unique to the Borders. Historically these traditions were very much aimed at the local community, however in 2009 Return to the Ridings and Homecoming joined forces to invite visitors to the area to enjoy the spectacle. Visitors from the USA, France, Norway and Australia all made the visit and in 2014 we are hoping to welcome even more visitors from across the globe to come, stay, and enjoy the wealth of activities, attractions, good food and entertainment the Borders has to offer.
